The Valmeinier area is home to various species of rare butterfly, which inhabit both banks of the Neuvache. The trail includes fun and themed marker points and a bulletin board to inform parents and children about the "Glières leisure area". A site geared towards tourism and the environment (rest areas, restoration of the site, landscaping) will soon be developed. |

The municipality of Valmeinier supports various actions:
1. Diagnosis of the "Valmeinier Pastoral Unit" by the Savoie Chamber of Agriculture.
A single objective: to optimise the agricultural and environmental management of the area.
The aim is to introduce good agricultural practices, so as to make production methods more compatible with the requirements of environmental protection.
2. Renovation of a chalet in an alpine meadow, to offer more comfortable accommodation for farmers with migratory herds.
Two objectives:
- to provide shepherds with a secure and comfortable place to stay
- to ensure the long-term future of pastoral activities
These activities remain extremely important to the quality of landscapes, as they limit the development of wildland. They also contribute greatly to the upkeep of the ski runs.
In the summer, three migratory shepherds are present in Valmeinier.
3. Construction of a catching pen for Valmeinier’s two ovine pastoral units: the Blanches and Sonnailles units.
Main objective: to favour phytosanitary measures for agricultural activities. Indeed, herds currently graze on the listed site of Mont Thabor.
4. Scrub clearing
The stakes for agriculture have been clearly identified: facilitating the set-up of an agricultural concern and supporting existing pastoral activities. Some fifteen hectares will be cleared. |

Over the years, the lake in the Glières area has been re-colonised by indigenous vegetation. The spot would be improved by "pedestrianisation" and a development plan has been drawn up:
- Restore the river's natural components, remove the existing lake and head in the direction of "green" tourism, centring on running water, walks and the discovery of nature.
- Preserve the special atmosphere of this spot, which is located at the heart of the Neuvache valley, one kilometre upstream of Valmeinier 1500 in the Mont Thabor direction, and combines vegetation-covered meanders and braids, grassy banks, waterfalls, water features, etc.

In an effort to harmonise the area’s landscape and architecture, Valmeinier is gradually burying its electrical grid. Clear views and façades unspoilt by visual pollution contribute to enhancing the beauty of the resort. |
|
|
During winter, a free shuttle service runs between Valmeinier 1500 and 1800 to reduce vehicle traffic and pollution, and to make life easier for pedestrians.
An added bonus: Within the scope of Valmeinier’s Medium-Sized Resort Contract, a general urban development study has been launched. Aspects relating to lighting, the landscape and pedestrian routes will be examined very closely. |
