Presentation

Valmeinier is pleased to welcome this summer the great blues group Awek during its opening weekend festival.

AWEK is 27 years on the road, around the world, using the asphalt to scour clubs and festivals, on small or large stages, without ever failing or failing. 27 years of passion for this captivating even intoxicating Blues, like a dedication. 12 albums recorded including four in the USA... and more than 1800 concerts across France, Europe, India, Morocco, Quebec, and the USA. AWEK has never stopped evolving while keeping the original soul, out of respect, sincerity and simplicity.

AWEK is also...
Awards in France and the USA: voted best French group in 2004 and 2005, Cognac Blues Passions prize in 2009, finalist at the IBC in Memphis (USA) in 2008, prize for best harmonica player at the IBC (USA) in 2011 , first French group at the EBC in Berlin (Germany) in 2011, several times number 1 at the Power Blues, album ranking by the Collectif des Radios Blues (CRB)...
Invited to many prestigious festivals such as "Jazz in Montreal" (Quebec), "Jazz in Vienna", "Jazz in Marciac", "Cognac Blues Passions", "Cahors Blues Festival", "Blues sur Seine", "Nancy Jazz Pulsation", "Tanjazz" in Tangier (Morocco), "Playing With Fire" in Omaha (USA), and so many others... Opening for legendary artists such as BB King, The Blues Brothers, The Yardbirds, John Mayall , Rickie Lee Jones, Zucchero, Texas...
This eloquent record tells us a lot about their tenacity. Their book "20 years of Blues" is a testimony to this beautiful slice of life, but the adventure continues with, among other things, a new album in the works... More present than ever in 2015, our 4 adventurers tirelessly pursue their journey, the one they had chosen by instinct and passion 20 years ago, in 1994...
In January 2019, AWEK played at the Philharmonie de Paris with the Orchester Pasdeloup under the direction of Jean-François Verdier.
In 2021, France Blues inducted AWEK into the French Blues Hall of Fame.
