Valmeinier is a mid-mountain town located in the heart of the Maurienne valley. Valmeinier and its many hamlets are inhabited year round by a municipal population of 525 inhabitants.
The territory of the commune, suitable for winter and mountain sports in summer, covers nearly 54 km², with an altitude varying between 1200 and 3160 meters.
Valmeinier is made up of two sectors: the first, Valmeinier Villages located at an altitude of 1500 metres, it is a resort-village which has managed to retain its authentic character over time.
